Fast Kit have served as one of the nation’s top custom packaging designers and manufacturers since 1986. They produce custom binders, corporate kits, packages, books and offer services like die-cutting, foil stamping, spot UV, silk screening and more! They do just about everything at their state of the art 50,000 square foot manufacturing warehouse located in Miami, FL.
Brightology Lighting partnered with Fast Kit to replace inefficient high bay lighting with LED energy efficient solutions.
CHALLENGES
- Expensive maintenance costs with constant burning out of metal halide light bulbs. MH bulbs take up to 15 minutes to reach 90% of their full light output or run up time and need to be replaced approximately every 8 months
- Expensive operating costs including cooling down of the facility. When fully lit, the metal halide bulb will reach an approximate temperature of 2000° Fahrenheit! 1,000 watts per bulb × 66 fixtures = 66,000 Watts\
- Metal halide bulbs have a very low Color Rendering Index (CRI) not higher than 70/100. The measurement of light in relation to how it affects the appearance of color, of course VERY important in print and manufacturing
- Brightology reduced maintenance costs at Fast Kit by switching to a 200 watt LED UFO highbay fixture that offers a 5 year warranty
- LEDs don’t produce heat and are cool to the touch. The LED highbay used has an operating temperature of -40° to 122°Farenheit versus the existing metal halide 2000°Farenheit!
- We successfully cut the wattage energy consumption from 66,000 watts to only 13,000 watts with the newly installed fixtures!
- CRI was increased to a 90/100, adding benefits to this print manufacturing warehouse space like higher color accuracy, error prevention, increased productivity and a safer work environment
